Built around 1440 to house the Campbells of Glenorchy, the castle was improved and extended for many years. However, it was well-tested in battle and unfortunately is little more than a ruin today.

Situated at the head of Loch Awe, the ruin attracts tourists throughout the summer, who make the most of boat trips across the loch to explore the historic castle. It is possible to walk to Kilchurn and walkers are rewarded with some stunning views.
