Boating in Kent
Kent’s premier river attracts many boating enthusiasts, in both powered and unpowered craft. The River Medway first opened 250 years ago and is now host to a wide-range of water-based activities, ranging from canoeing and sculling events to bathtub and plastic duck races! The Maidstone River Festival, held at the end of July, is the high point of recreational activity on the river.
Where boating activity is leisure-based and fun on the River Medway, only experienced navigators should attempt to negate the strong currents on the River Stour.
