Diggle

Located at the western end of the Standedge Tunnel, Diggle is one of a cluster of Pennine villages that have made their mark on the tourist map by virtue of their scenic surroundings and character buildings.

A good base for walks along the Huddersfield Narrow Canal and onto the moors, Diggle is enduringly popular with walkers rising to the challenge of the Pennine Way – and those simply keen to enjoy a relaxed stroll through rugged countryside.

On the banks of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, the Diggle Hotel is an old favourite with locals and visitors attempting to walk the Pennine Way. Stop for a welcome break, or even spend the night here – the landlord has been known to taxi people back up the hill to continue their walk the next morning. Stay on a Thursday night and see if you can win the weekly quiz.
