Lancaster

A cosmopolitan city on England’s west coast, Lancaster bears the imprint of centuries past with a Roman Bathhouse, a medieval Castle and numerous fine examples of Georgian and Victorian architecture.

Skirting the city’s east side, the Lancaster Canal is a unique waterway in that it offers more than 40 miles of continuous lock-free cruising, as well as John Rennie’s spectacular stone Lune Aqueduct. South of Lancaster, Glasson Basin is a charming place to spend a day admiring the colourful boats in the marina and taking a stroll along the converted railway track.

Walking to work in Lancaster
The Lancaster Canal flows through the city centre, past the cathedral and out towards Newton. People living in residential suburbs near Skerton and Scotforth can escape the traffic and take to the towpaths for a pleasant walk to the office, the shops and back home again in the evening.
