Platts Lane Lake is an absolute haven for wildlife and the perfect place to go for a cheap day out with the family.

Fishing is allowed on both of Platts Lane Lake’s waters, with the use of rods and lines permitted in the main lake, and nets in the smaller pond. The reedbeds house an abundance of wildlife, and children will love searching amongst them for small frogs, dragonflies and insects.

There are designated picnic areas dotted about, making Platts Lane Lake a lovely spot to relax on a summer’s day out. However, if you fancy something more active, go off the beaten track for a stroll around the beautiful surrounding countryside. There are also two self-guided trails you can follow: the Burscough Wetlands and the Ruff Wood Lathom Circular walks.

For those who enjoy a good exploration, bring a bike along and see how much more ground you can cover with a brisk cycle ride.
