Dating back to around 1800, the Coach House was originally used as astaging post when the village was a crossroads at the junction of two ancient turnpike Pennine routes.

Today, the centre is run by the Littleborough Coach House Trust who run the site as a heritage and information centre and as a showcase for local artists.
