Foxton

Foxton is a small town prettily situated on the banks of the Grand Union Canal Leicester Line.

The glories of the English countryside surround Foxton on all sides: not only does it benefit from the wildlife corridor of the canal but a patchwork of farmland extends from Foxton out into south Leicestershire. Numerous walks thread from the town, and one of the wonders of the canals, Foxton Locks, is a stone’s throw to the west.

For boaters, Foxton is a popular place to moor up and stock up on supplies. Canal buffs can find out more about Foxton’s history at the canal museum and everyone can enjoy a meal at the Foxton Locks Inn.

Land-lubbing locals get equal enjoyment from their proximity to this great heritage site. Waterside wildlife flourishes in the side ponds and walks along the towpath appeal to all ages. Feed the ducks, enjoy a picnic and watch the colourful boats passing through the staircase flight.
