Lincoln Cathedral is a truly magnificent building and well worth visiting.
The original structure was consecrated by Bishop Remigiusin 1092, after it was decided by William the Conqueror that the Bishopric should be moved to Lincoln, alongside the already established castle here. In the 12th century it was sadly the victim to firstly a fire, then an earthquake, which resulted in needing to rebuild sections each time. St. Hugh pioneered the structure planas it stands today in 1192, although the central tower was not completed until almost 120 years later (after an initial tower structure had collapsed).
The nave is a wonder of space and light, there are beautiful stained glass windows to admire and a tranquil colonnaded cloister.
Also the Works Department still produces wonder with the materials glass, lead, wood and stone.
