Brentford

Brentford benefits from having both the River Thames and the Grand Union Canal close by, so there are many opportunities for waterside recreation.

Although Brentford has excellent transport links, you’ll save money and avoid hours of queuing traffic by travelling to work on foot or by bike. Follow the curve of the Thames towpath east to Hammersmith or west to Richmond, or head north on the Grand Union Canal towards Hanwell. For Brentford residents, the River Thames is a green corridor to Kew Gardens and the pubs and bars of Chiswick - and a power walk or 30 minute jog along the towpath is a cheaper alternative than the gym.

Take a walk around Brentford
Walking along the towpaths is easy to incorporate into your daily routine – the route is always flat and there are no busy roads to cross. Take a waterside stroll after picking the kids up from school and enjoy the nature and wildlife waiting right on your doorstep. Popular destinations might be Brentford Lock or Brentford Toll House information centre, where you can find out more about the area. The Kew Bridge Steam Museum is great for a family day out on the banks of the Thames.
