Cutty Sark & Gypsy Moth IV
London
The little and large of boating, side by side on the River Thames waterfront next to Greenwich Pier.
The Cutty Sark was the last of the great tall-masted round-the-world tea clippers. Gypsy Moth IV - vulnerable and insecure-looking in comparison - was the tiny craft used by Sir Francis Chichester in his famous solo round-the-world voyage. Nearby is the entrance to the slightly sinister Victorian foot-tunnel under the Thames to the north bank.
Other attractions of Greenwich include the Greenwich markets, Greenwich Park, the National Maritime Museum (020 8858 4422) - including Greenwich Observatory, the Greenwich Meridian and The Queen's House - and Wren's spectacular Royal Naval College. Also nearby are Canary Wharf, the Millennium Dome, and the Thames Barrier. Greenwich Tourist Information Centre: 0870 608 2000.
Unfortunately the Cutty Sark is not currently open to visitors
