Little Venice is an oasis of leafy calm, just minutes from Paddington Station.
Technically, it is the point where the Paddington Arm of the Grand Union Canal meets the Regents Canal - but the name coined by Robert Browning has come to signify the whole area at the south of Maida Vale. This is a great spot for a walk along the towpath, perhaps for the 2.5 miles to Camden Lock and the markets, alongside Regents Park and London Zoo.
At Little Venice itself you will find the Puppet Theatre Barge, the Cascade Floating Art Gallery, the Waterside Cafe and the excellent Warwick Castle pub. About half a mile east towards Camden - perched above the mouth of Maida Vale Tunnel - there is the picturesque Caf La Ville.
Paddington Basin, a short walk from Little Venice, is currently being redeveloped on a scale to rival London's Docklands. You can access the canal directly from the Paddington Station footbridge, following signs for Paddington Central.
