Walking near Edinburgh

Woodland walks, hill top trails and canal tunnels – variety is indeed the spice of Lowland life. Both the Union Canal and the Forth & Clyde offer good towpath walking, and the River Tay flows through some of Scotland’s prettiest countryside – so there’s always somewhere scenic to walk with the sound of the river in your ear. Hill walkers can tackle the network of footpaths around Loch Lomond, and for those who fancy a challenge, the wild and wonderful West Highland Way crosses nearby.
