Kirkintilloch
Kirkintilloch is rich in heritage and enjoys a prominent position on the Forth & Clyde Canal.
The Roman Emperor Antonine built Antonine’s Wall - his northernmost frontier in Britain – at Kirkintilloch. Today, the site continues to attract historians, day-trippers and walkers – who can follow the Antonine Wall all the way to the Falkirk Wheel.
History buffs find much to interest them in Kirkintilloch. In addition to Roman antiquities, visitors can see Cowgate market, where Rob Roy Gregor sold his rustled cattle, and stand by Kirkintilloch Cross, where Bonnie Prince Charlie passed on his way to the Jacobean uprisings.
Days out in Kirkintilloch
