Image for Sandringham House

Sandringham was built in 1870 by the Prince and Princess of Wales, has been a private home to four generations of British monarchs and is now the country retreat of Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.

The main ground floor rooms which are open to the public appear much as they were back in Edwardian times, and are still regularly used by the Royal Family.

The Museum, housed in the stable block, coach houses and old powerhouse, is an assortment of Royal collections since 1928. From Royal motor vehicles, children's cars and carriages to historical photos of Sandringham and hundreds of gifts presented to the Royal family, from all over the world.

Then there's the Country Park - all 600 acres of it - which is free and open every day to the public. You can take a trail, follow a path, or simply meander aimlessly in these beautiful surroundings, which are part of the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Altogether this makes a extraordinary and unforgettable day out.
