Ruined ninth century Benedictine abbey whose monks at one time controlled much of the local peat digging that resulted on the creation of the Broads themselves. The Abbey is the atmospheric setting for an annual outdoor Sunday morning service conducted at the beginning of August by the Bishop of Norwich.
For boaters there are extensive free moorings on the river bank nearby.
