Valle Crucis Abbey was home to Cistercian monks when founded in 1201.

Henry VIII put an end to the monasteries in the 16th Century and the building fell into decay. However, today you can still see many original features which have survived, like the west front and its rose window, the east end of the Abbey and the Chapter House with its rib-vaulted roof.

A visit to Valle Crucis Abbey gives you an interesting insight into the Cistercian order, as well as the beauty of its stunning backdrop of the Llangollen mountains.
