Kings Sutton Village
Northamptonshire
Lies about one mile from the canal, with its church, pub and attractive houses set round the village green. The church has a 198 foot spire.
The Oxford Canal was built between 1769 and 1790 to carry goods from the new industrial areas in the Midlands to Oxford, and via the Thames to London. The canal wanders through the predominantly rural landscape.
South of Banbury the canal is adjacent to the historic villages of Kings Sutton and Aynho, which illustrate Northamptonshire's legendary 'Spires and Squires' nickname.
