Northumberland

Rural Northumberland provides an interesting contrast to the urban hubs of the North east.

This is stunning countryside. The England/Scotland border was the scene of many battles and disputes in years gone by. Today, the ruins of watchtowers and fortresses add a hint of romance to the pretty borderland scenery. Through it all, the rivers Tweed and Wansbeck wind a peaceful way to the sea.
