Newcastle upon Tyne
Every year, increasing numbers of visitors cross the Gateshead Millennium Bridge over the River Tyne into Newcastle – newly reborn as a vibrant cultural centre.
The bridge links Newcastle to Gateshead and provides access between the significant arts and leisure attractions on both sides of the Tyne, at Gateshead Quays and in Grainger Town. If all this is just way too much culture, then the area also contains a wide selection of fashionable bars and eateries. And after you have feasted, you can work it off with a brisk stroll along the Hadrian's Wall Path National Trail.
The National Trust have also created a number of walking routes that enable you to explore the many faces of Newcastle. There is a walk to suit every ability as the routes range from easy to difficult:
National Trust Route 1 - gentle
National Trust Route 2 - easy going
National Trust Route 3 - challenging
National Trust Route 4 - push your limits
