Newark

The River Trent flows through the small town of Newark, aka Newark upon Trent.

Newark grew up around Newark Castle (now in ruins) and its large marketplace (now attractively lined with historic buildings). It is a pleasant town in which to live and work, with good transport links to nearby Nottingham and London. The scenic River Trent runs through the west of town making it easy for residents to take to the towpaths and walk to work or to the train station. Fitness fanatics can skip the gym and enjoy some fresh air instead with a riverside jog – and for those more inclined to enjoy views of the water in a relaxed fashion, several pubs are just a stone’s throw from the river.
