Nottingham Castle used to be a medieval castle. It was built by William the Conqueror in the 12th Century, but was demolished during the Civil War. The existing structure was built in 1674 and is a Renaissance-style mansion full of historical and contemporary art exhibitions.

You can learn about Nottingham's history, the life of Robin Hood, see paintings and sculpture, or venture down into the myriad of caves under the castle.
