Boating in Powys

A family watching a boat go under a bridge on the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal in Llangynidr

Boating in Powys is unhurried cruising at its best. If you want to get away from it all – and really mean it – there’s no better place to launch.

Brecon Basin is an enchanting place to begin your voyage down the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal. With just one flight of locks and no links to any other waterways, the peaceful Mon & Brec can be explored at whatever pace suits. Just two stretches of the Montgomery Canal are currently navigable, but you can the see sights of Powys from the water with a boat trip around scenic Welshpool.
