This area gives you an insight into the limestone past of this area. The many lime kilns, canals, disused railways and woodlands paint their own picture of this industry which flourished until the beginning of the 20th Century.

You also get a view of the Shropshire Wildlife Trust reserve, Llanymynech Rocks.

It is located near the A483, 6 miles south of Oswestry, just a short walk from the village of Llanymynech.

A visitor centre has now opened and is run by volunteers. It is open on Sunday afternoons and for pre-booked visits.

The centre includes interesting information about the canal and the surrounding area, including Llanymynech Heritage Area.

For pre-booked visits, please call John Martin on 01691 830506.

For more information, please visit the [www.llanymynech-hoffman.co.uk/ Llanymynech Heritage Area website] or the 'Dutchess Countess' Trust website
