Robert Owen Museum

The Cross
Broad Street
Powys
SY16 2BB

The Robert Owen Memorial Museum is on the ground floor of the Town Council building in the centre of Newtown.

It is a tribute to this local boy (1771 - 1858), who rose to success and riches and, although a capitalist, inspired the 'socialist' Co-operative movement.

There are numerous pictures, portraits, various mementoes and personal effects and letters, including some fine busts and a handsome bureau. You can also watch a video on his life in the Museum.

The Museum is a registered charity and a purely voluntary organisation, depending mainly upon donations. All contributions are gratefully received.
