Sykes Lane is the largest of Rutland Water's four waterside parks.
A picnic site par excellence, it's great for walking, too. There are superb views of the reservoir from the Empingham Dam, which is just a few hundred yards to the east.
Though this end of the reservoir is less rich in wildlife than the western end, it does have the Butterfly Farm and Aquatic Centre (Tel: 01780 460515), which will appeal especially to children.
