The attractive market town of Ellesmere stands on the banks of the charming Llangollen Canal in Shropshire.

Ellesmere town enjoys an idyllic location next to The Mere, an enchanting lake which is part of ‘Shropshire’s Lakeland’ – a collection of small but beautiful lakes in the area. Locals can follow the shore through colourful gardens, take a boat out onto the lake or try their hand at fishing. For a day out with the kids, pack a picnic and walk along the Llangollen Canal to the Mere Visitor Centre – home to wildlife, rowing boats, manicured gardens, a children’s play area and relaxing woodland walks.

Boaters find Ellesmere a convenient place to moor up for services, supplies and a tasty meal out.
