Image for Bethlehem

O little town of Bethlehem …

The shepherds, the three kings, the Roman census, no, none of it happened here. Bethlehem, Carmarthenshire is a small farming village south east of Llandeilo. This is a beautiful part of the country, sparsely populated and dotted with the romantic remains of medieval castles. It is, however, rarely troubled by tourists except during the festive season.

Once a year, the classic Christmas village hosts a traditional Christmas market and the old Post Office, re-opened in the primary school, becomes the place to post your Christmas cards. Visitors from all over the UK queue up to secure the coveted Bethlehem postmark and then join the locals outside to sample regional chutneys and other home-made produce.
