This lovely steam engine runs along the former NSR Churnet Valley main line, which was closed in 1988. It was purchased by a local group of enthusiasts under the company now know as Churnet Valley Railway (1992) plc.

The first 'push and pull' passenger service ran in August of 1996, then a longer line to Consall was opened two years later. Today's line, from Cheddleton to Kingsley & Froghall is approximately five and half miles long.

Churnet Valley Railway is always looking for volunteers to help out, so if you're interested, please give them a call.
