Victorian house with a William Morris interior.

This romantic retreat on the outskirts of Wolverhampton is a rare survival of a house built and furnished under the influence of the Arts and Crafts movement. Wolverhampton businessman Theodore Mander commissioned the neo-Tudor mansion, complete with a mock medieval Great Hall, back in the late 19th century. Today, it is famed for its William Morris wallpaper, Kempe glassware and de Morgan tiles which are all the more remarkable for having survived the onward march of 20th century modernisation.

Outside, the extensive gardens reflect the spirit of the house and the governing principles of the Arts and Crafts movement. Careful planting and design have resulted in a blaze of colour which delights visitors all year round.
