Hanley Park

A Victorian park with one of England’s prettiest canals running straight through it, Hanley Park is a must-visit attraction in the city of Stoke-on-Trent.

Hanley Park lies close to the city centre so why not take a walk in your lunch hour and get fit during the day? Take your packed lunch and make the most of the picnic tables the park has to offer.

For residents of Stoke on Trent who may travel in and out of the city on the train, after a hard day at work, take a walk to Hanley Park to forget about the stresses of the day. Make your way to the Caldon Canal while you’re there and spot the wildlife who have made the canalside home. If you spot any wildlife, make sure you fill in the British Waterways wildlife survey when you get home.

Get the kids away from their computer games by packing up the picnic hamper and heading over to Hanley Park to let them really work off their energy. The Sports zone includes football, cricket, basketball, hockey and tennis and is a great opportunity to get fit and play as a family. There are also three play areas to keep children of all ages amused.

For a more relaxed afternoon, take a walk around the park and admire the modern art feature on the island in the lake and the four elegant fountains.
