Carlton Marshes, not far from Oulton Broad, lies in the Waveney Valley and is both a Broads National Park and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
It comprises 44.9 hectares of grazing marsh, fens and peat pools and is an amazing haven for wildlife. You might see wading birds, birds of prey, the swallowtail butterfly or the norfolk hawker dragonfly. On the water appears the rare and protected water soldier plant, and on the bank will you spot a stealthy vole running for cover?
