Walking in Sussex

River Lox and site of the new Drungewick Aqueduct in West Sussex

Whether you fancy a relaxing stroll to the local pub or an invigorating hike to blow away the cobwebs, Sussex has a great choice of walking routes.

The most famous trail is the South Downs Way, but the towpaths of Sussex’s rivers and canals provide ample material for the waterside walker. Stroll the entire length of the River Wey - enjoying the scenery of hop fields and orchards - or explore the network of footpaths around the Basingstoke Canal.
