There's something for everyone at Dudley Zoo & Castle. It's in the heart of the Black Country on a 50-acre wooded site. Built in 1937, it has over 200 species of animal, including chimps, sea lions, penguins and tigers.
There are also fairground rides, a land train, bouncy castle and chairlift - or why not get your face painted and have your photo taken in your new animal guise?
The castle was built in 1071 and claims its place in history primarily in the 16th Century, when John Dudley rebuilt it as a Renaissance Palace - the man who was later beheaded by Queen Mary for hatching the ill-fated plot to put Lady Jane Grey on the throne. The Visitor Centre is an excellent stop to find out more about the building's history and about the life of people who lived there.
