Opened in 1858, Netherton Tunnel was the last major canal tunnel to be constructed in Britain. It runs for over a mile, 453ft above sea level, and was built to relieve congestion in the very narrow Dudley Tunnel.

We recommend that cyclists travel in pairs when passing through the tunnel, and lights are essential.
