St Andrew's Church
Wiltshire
St. Andrew's Church lies in the heart of the Wiltshire village of Wootton Rivers, fivemiles south of Marlborough.
It's most interesting because of its clock, built from scrap to celebrate the Coronation of King George V in 1911. Made by a local clockmaker, it has three faces, the most striking of which is the Southern one, which has the words 'Glory Be To God' substituting the numerals around the edge.
It's run bytwo large hand wound lead weights, one for the clock and the other for the strike and chimes. The chiming mechanism is like that of a musical box and plays six distinct tunes.
