Wilton Windmill

Wiltshire

Image for Wilton Windmill

Built in 1821, Wilton Windmill, the last surviving windmill in Wiltshire, milled flour for around 100 years before it was made redundant with the arrival of steam and electric powered mills. In 1976, however, the mill was restored and today is a must-see attraction for visitors to Wiltshire. Members of Wilton Windmill Society will show you round this much-loved mill and you will discover how little the process of flour-making has changed since it began. There is a caf at the back of the windmill where delicious tea and cakes are readily available.

The windmill is open from Easter to the end of September on Sundays and Bank Holiday Saturdays and Mondays. Guided tours are available from 2pm - 5pm.
