Leeds
Newly emerging as a centre for commerce and leisure, Leeds is an attractive city on the banks of the River Aire.
Not for nothing has Leeds been christened the ‘capital of the north’; it’s bustling streets, chic boutiques and stylish bars create an air of confidence which is reminiscent of London or Edinburgh. Through it all threads the peaceful River Aire, an attractive green corridor where residents and commuters can relax.
Walking to work in Leeds
The Leeds & Liverpool Canal, the Aire & Calder Navigation and the River Aire are convenient traffic-free pathways through Leeds. Residents lucky enough to work in their home city should consider leaving the car at home and walking to work along the towpath - you’ll benefit from the exercise and are likely to get to work calmer and happier without having spent the morning stuck in traffic. Commuters arriving at Leeds station can take to the towpaths as soon as they leave the train, and follow the Leeds & Liverpool Canal out towards the Aireside Centre or the Aire & Calder Navigation to Warehouse Hill.
Leeds is a very cycle-friendly town, and parts of the towpath are wide enough to accommodate cyclists as well as other users – but remember to dismount under bridges.
