Royal Armouries
Yorkshire
This is the place where you'll find Britain's remarkable national collection of arms and armour. The museum opened in a modern purpose-built space in 1996 with the emphasis very much on visitor participation.
There are five themed galleries: War, Tournament, Self-defence, Hunting, and Arms & Armour of the Orient. Attractions include Henry VIII's tournament armour and a replica Edwardian Gun Room. In the Craft Court, expert gunmakers and leatherworkers demonstrate their skills; and in summer months, there are outdoor demonstrations of falconry and jousting.
The Royal Armouries is open daily and entry is free. The museum is situated in Leeds city centre on the waterfront of the Aire & Calder Navigation at Clarence Dock where you will also find the full range of boater amenities.
