Sheffield Canal Basin (Victoria Quays)

Sheffield is the terminus of the Sheffield & South Yorkshire Navigation, which extends some 43 miles from the River Trent. The canal basin has been the subject of a restoration project, with the impressive warehouse buildings of the Sheffield Canal Basin (Victoria Quays) now mostly office space, though there is also a restaurant/bar and a hotel and health club. Guided boat trips operate from the basin.

The canal basin is handy for the town centre. Sheffield is an interesting, lively town mixing Georgian, Victorian and modern architecture with lots to see and do, including the Ruskin Gallery, the Graves Art Gallery, the Crucible Theatre and the Lyceum Theatre.
