Treasurer's House
Minster Yard
Yorkshire
YO1 7JL
This grand house was originally home to the treasurer of York Minster and is hidden away behind the impressive Minster.
The decoration of the house was the creation of Frank Green, a Victorian industrialist who restored it after it had become derelict. His unique style resulted in the house being filled with both 16th and 20th century decor. It is filled with a variety of syles and furniture.
Visitors can enjoy tours around the house, exploring the life of Frank Green. An exhibition includes a video presentation of York's most famous ghost story - The Roman Legion - by the story's author Harry Martindale. Harry was working at the house when he heard noises and, after following the sound, came across a ghostly group of Roman soldiers marching.
