By day this is a quiet, family-friendly pub with good views of Gas Street Basin through tall glass windows and from a canalside patio. The decor isn't quite authentic (a wooden barrel roof done up to look like wharves) but the ales are more genuine, including M&B Mild and Timothy Taylor's Landlord on our visit. Then, at night, the musicians move in. There are jazz acts and tribute bands throughout the week, followed by a metal club on Thursday, advertised as "Take me down to Paradise City, where the rock is loud and it's called James Brindley." The canal engineer would be turning in his grave.

We offer:

  • Pubs + bars

  • Family friendly
