Welcome to Kate Boats - a family run canal business established for over 18 years. Kate Boats hire fleet offers narrowboat cruising holidays on the Grand Union Canal, from bases at Warwick and Stockton. Whether you're looking for a family holiday with a difference or just want to unwind and take life at a more tranquil pace, each boat in our narrowboat fleet provides a level of comfort and convenience that is normally associated with privately owned craft. The tradition of naming boats after family members continues and gives each boat a personality as unique as your waterways experience.
The Hire Fleet
Whether you have previously enjoyed a holiday on the waterways or are a 'land lubber' looking to experience life afloat for the first time we will give you the personal care and attention that you require to ensure you enjoy your holiday to the full.All our boats have colour television, stereo radio cassette player and a 240 volt power supply as well as a standard 12 volt lighter socket for mobile telephones.
We build narrow boats to order to meet customers own specifications, we also service and refit narrow boats as well as providing canal side services such as moorings, water, elsan disposal and pump out facilities. We sell diesel and Calor gas and our shop sells canal souvenirs, canal maps & guides, books and chandlery.
We welcome back many hirers year after year, and offer a 5% discount to returning hirers. Five boats, Thomas David, Richard John, Florence Edith, Harry and Samuel James start on Fridays/Mondays and are available for weekends and mid-week hire at around 60% of the week price quoted. Previous hirers will have 5% discount on the first week of any year 2003 holiday booked with us.
Weekend and midweek breaks are available at 60% of the full week rate. The short break boats will be running from the Stockton Top Marina, Stockton, giving the option of routes with less locking (if that's what you are looking for!).
Our Boatbuilding
We project manage the whole operation from your sketches on the back of an envelope to a fully fitted completed boat. Kate Boats have been building boats for nearly 20 years, and also run a hire fleet of quality boats. We know how to build boats that will stand the test of time. You are welcome to come and see the boats that we are building for customers, and also the hire boats that we have built which are working for their living, week in, week out, and still looking good!
