Attingham Park
One of the Midlands' greatest country houses.
The attractive Georgian mansion reflects the taste and judgement of the family which once called it home. Attingham Park was built in 1785 for the 1st Lord Berwick, an art and music aficionado responsible for the fine picture gallery and the Samuel Green organ which is still sometimes played. The fine Regency interior, Italian furniture and ambassadorial silver further enhance the refined character of the house.
Outside, the 500 acres of parkland bear the mark of Humphrey Repton who landscaped the grounds in 1787. He recommended that more trees be planted and also had the vision to damn the River Tern, making it a prominent feature in the verdant grounds. Deer, kingfisher and even otters can be spotted along the many miles of walks which thread through the pleasant estate.
