Bath Narrowboats are based at Sydney Wharf just 10 minutes stroll from the heart of Georgian Bath. In the canal’s heyday Sydney Wharf was a thriving community and the main trans-shipment point for many of the goods and passengers arriving in Bath. They are proud to be able to keep the historic Wharf busy and can offer a unique starting point for your narrowboat holiday. Bath Narrowboats have a small fleet of narrowboats which we operate on behalf of Anglo Welsh

For those of you with less time available we have two mini-narrowboats available for day hire. In Kennet or Avon, you can explore the secret world of the canal, beyond the Georgian facades and into the peace and tranquillity of the beautiful Limply Stoke Valley. For more details please visit the Bath Narrowboats website.

The John Rennie

For celebrations of a different kind altogether, there is The John Rennie, named for the Engineer who designed and oversaw the construction of the Kennet and Avon Canal. The John Rennie is Bath’s most luxurious floating restaurant and venue for private parties of 10 - 50 guests. She’s a broad beam boat so there is ample space on board for everyone. There’s a flexible seating layout in the main saloon, which is glass sided, affording delightful views as the countryside drifts past. There’s also an open deck at the front where you can enjoy the sunshine and fresh air.

Enjoy a delicious meal in this floating restaurant

The John Rennie offers the perfect venue for every occasion, whether it be a social club outing, office party, wedding reception, anniversary celebration, business conference or corporate entertainment. The main saloon is centrally heated offering the opportunity to cruise all year round. There’s also a range of special evenings available offering everything from Jazz on a summer’s evening to special Christmas Parties.

There is a fully fitted galley and a well stocked bar. All meals are prepared on board from fresh ingredients purchased locally. We have a range of menus ranging from an informal finger buffet to more formal meals. Our wine list features carefully selected wines from all over the world; there’s also a fully stocked bar on board.
