New to canal boating or if you've already enjoyed a holiday exploring England's fascinating canal system you'll know what to expect - an idyllic journey through fascinating scenery at a pace which makes you appreciate life. If you haven't, then you may be wondering just what a canal holiday entails.

The Teddesley Boat Company has been a hire base for more than 30 years. Started in 1968 with a couple of cruisers and progressed to produce a fleet of fibreglass topped hire boats. We have updated the fleet to the smart traditional & semi traditional narrowboats.

Our Location
We are conveniently located being only 10-15 minutes off the M6, either junction 12 if you are travelling from the south or junction 13 if you arrive from the north. From east and west we are only a few minutes off the A5. There is a railway station at Penkridge, but beware, it is closed on Sundays! So if parties arriving by train to Penkridge phone from the village, we will collect them. Stafford station is only 5 miles away and has an excellent service to London and the North. Taxi fares to the boatyard are very reasonable.

Short Breaks
A 3 night weekend or 4 night midweek break at 65% of the published weekly hire rate. Our Season is from March until late October. Our boats are usually hired on a weekly basis, but by adding a short break to a 1 week holiday you can have 10 days or add a short break to a 2 week holiday you could have a 17/ 18 days.

We provide:

A life buoy which is in easy reach of the helmsman. # Electric fridges. # Fire extinguishers and a fire blanket. # All mattresses foam and insulation materials are fire retardant. # A first aid box for minor emergencies. # An emergency stop valve fitted to the engine fuel system. # Battery master switch between the boat electrical system and the batteries. # Every boat carries a British Waterways Certificate of safety. # Life Jackets are provided free of charge. # Teddesley Boat Company is Corgi registered and all gas appliances are regularly inspected.
