The Malt House (Birmingham)

The red-brick, slightly grandiose building draws a faithful crowd over the bridge across the canal. Inside, the spacious bar/restaurant/dancefloor is a disparate mixture of orange walls, flowing gold curtains, ornate fireplaces and the ubiquitous huddle of pub tables. This is a favourite with the office lunchtime crowd and a pleasant spot to spend an afternoon. Bag a window seat and enjoy views of the canal, but be aware that come the evening, the Malthouse gets a loud dose of Friday night fever.
