Theatre Royal Stratford East

First opened in 1884, the grand Victorian theatre has enjoyed successful incarnations as a cinema and bingo hall, as well as a world-class performance venue which regularly draws west-end audiences over to the east end of London.

The Theatre Royal achieved national recognition in the 1950s as the home of Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop Company. Today, its position at the forefront of British drama endures thanks to its annual staging of UK/world premieres and popular comedy nights, as well as the lively production of community-oriented drama.
