The Trans Pennine Trail (TPT) is the country's first largely purpose built, national multi-user route. It runs coast to coast between the seaside resorts of Southport and Hornsea, a journey of 215m. The TPT also links the historic port cities of Liverpool and Hull, plus North and South routes to Leeds and Chesterfield and a link to the historic city of York. In total there are 350 miles of Trail available to be discovered and enjoyed! Walkers and cyclists can use the whole TPT with many sections available to horse riders. Easy gradients and surfaced paths make much of the Trail suitable for people using wheelchairs, pushchairs or anybody that just prefers the going to be easy! Much of the Trail (around 70%) is completely traffic free providing a great facility for families with young children.
Whether you want the challenge of a long distance walking, cycling or horse riding route, just a full day out, or a traffic-free Trail for the family, the TPT has much to offer. Many parts of the Trail are easily accessed by public transport so you can leave the car behind and plan a one-way route and return to your start point by bus or train.
No matter how far you want to travel on the Trans Pennine Trail, you can find more information on our website or by phoning the office.
