Your family will never forget the fun of learning to handle a narrowboat. At a leisurely 4 MPH even youngsters (properly supervised) can manage the craft with ease. Working the locks is a lot easier than you might imagine and provides plenty of opportunity for all the family to share the experience. And hardly a moment passes when something new and interesting won't delight you.

Bases

Heart of England - WORCESTER
Our base at Worcester is situated on the Worcester/Birmingham Canal close to its junction with the River Severn and close to the heart of the historic Cathedral City. It's the ideal starting point for a number of great holidays and short breaks, including the Stourport Ring and the Avon Ring.

Welsh Borders - WHITCHURCH
From our Whitchurch site, on the spectacular Llangollen Canal, you can cruise to Llangollen itself, visit Chester or take two weeks out and explore the waterways of the North West of England.

Shakespeare Country - RUGBY
Our Rugby Wharf site is on the northern section of the idyllic Oxford Canal, close to the town of Rugby, from where you have an extensive selection of rural routes to explore and enjoy, including the very popular Warwickshire ring.

Potteries and Peak District - GAILEY
Located on the Staffs and Worcester Canal just a few miles from Stafford, Gailey Wharf is the perfect starting point for a variety of trips, including the outstanding Four Counties Ring or a visit to the delightful Caldon Canal.

We give you the widest posible choice of cruising with no less than four strategically located operating bases allowing immediate access to England and Wales' finest waterways.

Our flexibility enables you to choose three or four night cruises, as well as seven days, ten days, two weeks or longer. In addition, you have the opportunity to start your holiday on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday whichever suits you best.

Viking Afloat is a keenly competitive company and our charges are fully inclusive of fuel, gas and VAT. We also provide bed linen, life jackets and secure car parking FREE. For your further peace of mind, we offer an optional Cancellation Scheme at very low rates.

As part of our service, we provide everyone with a full demonstration of the boat and its systems, as well as teaching newcomers how to handle the boats and how to operate the canal locks. Every one of our boats has on board a comprehensive manual and we supply expert help around the clock with a 24-hour emergency helpline. And you do not have to just take our word for the quality of our boats, since we insist that they are all inspected and graded every year by the National Tourist Board. Furthermore you can be assured that Viking Afloat's maintenance standards are second to none and you can be confident that your boat will have been carefully cleaned and thoroughly inspected prior to your arrival.
