Avon Boating

For over 100 years Avon Boating has been hiring out small boats and running passenger vessels on the River Avon. Open between Easter and November, we offer small boat hire by the hour including rowing boats, punts, Canadian canoes and self drive electric motorboats. If you are feeling particularly lazy you can also hire watermen to do the work for you. Or for something special, we have our own Venetian Gondola with gondolier.

We run river cruises from the Bancroft Gardens next to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre with our fleet of traditional passenger vessels seating up to 58 passengers. These boats can also be chartered for longer trips and functions, with drinks and food onboard.

The Boathouse is also expanding its workshops to offer traditional boatbuilding and repairs to the public. Current projects include the repair of a 1930’s launch and a brand new recreational rowing boat for an Oxford club.

In 2005 Avon Boating Ltd opened a new boat shop, The Chandlery, offering general sales including English Braids Ropes, International Paints and Mariner outboards as well as many other items and brands. We also offer outboard servicing by a fully qualified Mariner technician in our workshop. On the same site we hire outboard driven motorboats by the hour.
